The Winning Streak Continues

April the 20th and 21st brought the first rounds of the Trackday Championship (TDC) and Trackday Trophy (TDT) at Donington Park. This year the team have entered both race series with our Class C RenaultSport Clio 182.

Making their return to the TDC was the OG driver line-up of Scott Thompson and Ben Johansson, the first outing for the pair after two years on the sidelines. After blowing off the cobwebs in quali the pairing drove a great race to bring the car home P2 on the road just a few seconds back, but were later promoted to P1 after a post-race penalty for the #1 car of Donovan! The Class C field has some healthy competition this year so we are looking forward to some great racing across the rest of the season.

Entering the TDT this year are Louis Harvey and Oliver Richardson . Harvey is making his return to the team after a stellar rookie year in 2023, where he took race wins and multiple podiums in Pro-Am machinery. Joining Harvey and making his race debut was Oliver Richardson, Richardson is fresh from recent successes in Karting and making the step up into FWD cars. The pair made a rapid start to life in the TDT by qualifying P1 for the race at the first time of asking, in the process setting the fastest lap our Clio has ever set on the national layout with a 1:20.852! The race started out equally as strong, with the car running P1 and setting the fastest lap of the race. However the guys were denied a podium place due to a post-race penalty applied for contact with the #4 of Cameron Mclean on the final lap of the race. A few lessons learned for the duo but their impressive pace bodes well for the next round of calendar at Brands Hatch GP on May 18th!
